Little it is known that its important to take care of children since birth.
Even before the teeth erupt, the gums and the mouth need to be cleaned as well which influences the growth & eruption of teeth.
BEFORE THE TEETH ERUPT

-Make sure you clean their gum pads with a soft muslin cloth dipped in lukewarm
water twice a day & especially the tongue.
-Avoid the spread of bacteria into the infant’s mouth by avoiding kissing on the
lips & transferring your saliva into their mouth. Also, avoid sharing milk,
toothbrushes and spoons while feeding them.
AFTER THE TEETH ERUPT

-Start brushing your child’s teeth with a kids toothpaste with a soft toothbrush
twice a day as soon as the first tooth erupts in the mouth.
-While brushing, lift the lip so that you can see along the gum line and notice any
brown spots on the teeth which might be early signs of tooth decay.
-Never let your child go to sleep with milk in the mouth (either through a water
bottle or breast feed). Always wipe off the teeth with a damp cloth or introduce
some water into the mouth with the help of a dropper which will help wash the
milk & the sugar content in it which otherwise will contribute to dental decay.
-Introduce your baby to using a lidless cup between 6-9 months of age.
Discontinue feeding them with bottle as soon as teeth erupt.
Make sure you bring your child visit a dentist when he/she turns one & help
them to maintain a healthy smile.
