Dental emergencies, just like any emergency is a tough task to handle as the patient is at utmost discomfort and can’t figure out what to do. Yes, Tooth pain is sometimes that bad! Here, we’ll have a look on how to prepare ourselves for some of them.

1. KNOCKED OUT TOOTH

-Do not panic, Try to place the tooth immediately back into the socket if you are trained enough to assess the anatomy & position & rush to a dentist. If not able to keep the tooth below the tongue in mouth so that it is dipped in saliva; or If it is a child who cannot do so, place the tooth in cold milk & rush to the dentist.

2. PAIN

-Immediately rush to the dentist. Dental pain is sometimes beyond tolerance. If the dentist is not available, pop an OTC painkiller, do warm saline rinses and try to pull out any trapped food around or inside the tooth with the help of a dental floss or toothbrush. And see a dentist as soon as the facility is available.

3. FRACTURED JAW

-Prevent the jaw from moving by wrapping a cloth or necktie under the chin and tying it to the top of the head.

4. BADLY BITTEN LIP OR TONGUE

-Try to control the bleeding by biting on a clean piece of cotton. If there is swelling give an ice pack & rush to see a Dentist.

5. BROKEN BRACES OR WIRE

-If the broken piece can be easily taken out, do that & preserve it to show to the dentist. If cannot, cover the sharp portion with a chewing gum.

Never insert any sharp object in the mouth to cut down any appliance.

See A Dentist ASAP!
