HIV/AIDS- Listen to Your Mouth!

One’s mouth may be first part of body to be affected by HIV. Sometimes your mouth may be trying to tell you something about an underlying disease like HIV. We should have all ears to listen to it.


Some Oral Symptoms of HIV:

· Less Salivation ( Dry Mouth)

· White Coated Tongue ( Oral Thrush)

· Red Band on Gums

· White patches on tongue/ cheekside

· Recurrent mouth ulcers

· Reddish Black patches of tissue growth anywhere inside mouth.



How to cope up with these symptoms?

-If any of these symptoms arise visit a dentist as soon as possible.

-If you are already diagnosed with HIV and these symptoms are preventing you from having your medications and a balance diet, address these issues to your dentist and we shall see what best can be done for you.

· Drink lots of water to combat dry mouth.

· Never hide from your dentist that you have HIV/ AIDS.
